Morocco Equity Markets | 05 Oct 2015: Moroccan benchmark stock index lose 0.19%, MADEX 0.20% lower
Casablanca, Morocco, Capital Markets in Africa —The Moroccan benchmark stock index (measured as MASI Index) sagged by 0.19 percent to close at 9,100.04 points (with a year-to-date performance to -5.41 percent) with total market capitalization at MAD 458.160 million (an increase of MAD 808 million or US$84.2 million relative to previous market capitalization of MAD 458.968 billion). The market activity measured as total traded value was recorded at MAD 218.387 million compared to MAD 70.466 million recorded at previous trading session.
Likewise, Moroccan most active share index (MADEX) closed at 7,434.70 points (sagged by 0.20 percent compared to previous trading session). FTSE CSE Morocco 15 Index lost 0.76 percent to close at 7,902.82 points (-10.41 percent year-to-date performance) and FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid Index slashed by 0.33 percent to end at 7,648.96 points (to bring the year-to-date performance to -5.11 percent).
In term of sector indices, top gainers were Utilities, Forestry & Paper and Oil & Gas sector indices added 3.27 percent, 2.90 percent and 1.12 percent respectively. On the losers’ side, Electricity sector index (lost 1.57 percent to close the year-to-date performance at 29.44 percent), Engineering & Equipment sector index (fell by 1.14 percent to end at -40.09 percent year-to-date return) and Real Estate sector index (sagged by 1.12 percent to end at 8,933.84 levels).
Looking at the market price leaders and laggards, the leaders’ were JET CONTRACTORS advanced by 5.95 percent to end at MAD 201.30 and ATLANTA rose by 5.53 percent to settle at MAD 58.17. CARTIER SAADA also added 4.95 percent or MAD 0.90 with closing price of MAD 19.10 as well as TOTAL MAROC jumped by 3.70 percent to end at MAD 580.00. Conversely, ALLIANCE and STROC INDUSTRIE plunged by 5.98 percent (to settle at MAD 36.30) and tumbled by 4.76 percent (to trade at MAD 60.00) respectively. M2M Group and TAQA Morocco also crashed by 1.67 percent (with closing price of MAD 232.80) and dropped by 1.57 percent (to settle at MAD 550.10) respectively.
